Installation of Welle Server

Preparing for Installation

  • Check that the minimum requirements from here are satisified.
  • Obtain the installation package from the distribution channels
  • root account is required for installation

Installation

  1. Unzip the installation package into a working folder /home/user/installation

  2. Set the installer shell script welle-installation.sh to be executable

    # chmod +x welle-installation.sh
    
  3. Run the installer shell script welle-installation.sh

    # ./welle-installation.sh
    
  4. The installer will prompt to enter the installation destination folder

    Please enter the installation destination folder: [/opt] /opt
    
  5. The installer will then check that Java is installed and show the below message once verified

    JAVA is installed and executable in PATH.
    
  6. Next, the installer will ask for the database hostname and port to do a test connection

    Please enter the MySQL/MariaDB database hostname: [localhost] localhost
    Please enter the MySQL/MariaDB database port: [3306] 3306
    
    Checking connection to MySQL/MariaDB database localhost:3306 ...
    MySQL is installed and Database is reachable.
    
  7. Next, the script will ask for the database user, password and database name

    Please enter the MySQL/MariaDB IDM database user: [root] root
    Please enter the MySQL/MariaDB IDM database password:
    Please enter the MySQL/MariaDB IDM database name: [openidm] openidm
    
  8. Last for IDM, the script will ask for the JVM memory size to be set for Maximum and Minimum for IDM, which is recommended to be the same

    Please enter the IDM maximum JVM memory size (Xmx), i.e. m for Megabytes, G for Gigabytes: [512m] 512m
    Please enter the IDM minimum JVM memory size (Xms), i.e. m for Megabytes, G for Gigabytes: [512m] 512m
    
  9. IDM installation will begin, creating into the installation destination folder specified above and creating the database needed. A startup script will also be created and added to /etc/init.d/. Finally, the IDM service will be started.

    Start WrenIDM Installation...
    
    openidm script has been created in /opt/openidm/bin
    To finish installation, copy the script to the /etc/init.d folder
    and run the following command:
    chkconfig --add openidm
    
    To remove the service, run the following command:
    chkconfig --del openidm
    
    Starting WrenIDM...
    
    Creating admin user..
    
    WrenIDM is installed and started!
    
  10. Once IDM is installed successfully, the installer will start the Tomcat installation by asking for the JVM memory size to be set for Maximum and Minimum for Tomcat, which is also recommended to be the same.

    Please enter the Tomcat maximum JVM memory size (Xmx), i.e. m for Megabytes, G for Gigabytes: [512m] 512m

  11. Next, the installer will ask for the web context name for IC Governor. The default will be /welle.

    Please enter the web context name for IC Governor, e.g. http://<ip>:<port>/welle: [welle] welle
    
  12. Next, the Tomcat installation will begin. The installer script will be creating into the installation destination folder specified above and creating the databases needed. A startup script will also be created and added to /etc/init.d/.

    Start Tomcat Installation...
    
    Welle Databases Imported!
    
    Starting Tomcat service: Using CATALINA_BASE:   /opt/tomcat
    Using CATALINA_HOME:   /opt/tomcat
    Using CATALINA_TMPDIR: /opt/tomcat/temp
    Using JRE_HOME:        /usr
    Using CLASSPATH:       /opt/tomcat/bin/bootstrap.jar:/opt/tomcat/bin/tomcat-juli.jar
    Tomcat started.
    
  13. Last Step for the installer script, will be to deploy the web application to Tomcat

    Web Application deployed to Tomcat.
    
  14. Access IC Governer at http://<IP>:8080/welle

Configuration

  1. After installation, login as the default administrator.

  2. Enter Admin mode by clicking the button at the top right.

  3. Browse to the Settings > Governance page.

  4. In the Database tab, enter the database information for IDM, Attestation and Attestation Archived.

  5. In the IDM tab, update the IDM information

  6. In the Attestation tab, update the base URL information

  7. In the Mail Server tab, update the mail server information

  8. Restart Tomcat to connect to the configured databases and IDM.

    # /etc/init.d/tomcat stop
    # /etc/init.d/tomcat start
